Why are some people dumb?

I am running a project that has been delayed awhile. It’s in a bit of a holding pattern. Unbe knownst to me, a new person was assigned to it. They sit 50 feet away on the opposite side of the building. On the same freaking floor.

So instead of asking me, the project manager, and the person responsible for dictating the schedule to them, they involve 15 different people to get an update. Not hey, wants the status on the project. It’s hey lets ask so and so if they know who is running this, they don’t but they know some one who might know.......on and on it goes.

They know I’m the PM, they sent me the long convoluted email chain with the 15 different people. Why they couldn’t send me an email or walk 50 feet blows my mind. Now I look like an idiot because they are dumb and asked the wrong people the wrong question.

I’m drinking the good whiskey tonight.

I don’t know, friend, you said at the top that the new assignee was unbeknownst to you. So to me, their incompetence doesn’t make you look like the idiot, it makes them look foolish. Especially if they know you’re the PM. Either way, enjoy the good whiskey. Which is what, by the way?

They knew, but I don’t anyone else in the chain knew. Certainly not the PM I’m working with on the client’s side.

I think you need to have a team meeting where everyone brings their own whiskey. The meeting starts with everyone having a shot of their own.

Then everybody else can try anybody else’s whiskey.

And after that is done, ask everyone... “Soo... about this facking long email chain that was forwarded to me. What the faaaaaack? Next time... just facking come to me. OKAAAAAAY?

I used to work in post launch support so it would mean updating old project s or fixing paperwork that was found to be screwed up.

It was always amazing how angry some managers would get if I went to ask the engineer who worked on it a question. Actively   not wanting collaboration so they can maintain their little fiefdom.

On the subject of stupid people. I got a 250  dollar cleaning Fee because my older sister smoked pot in a hotel room that I paid for.
